Routes A and B

Adults/Seniors - £415.00 per person (twin/double room)

                          £485.00 per person (single room)

Join us on a trip to the Château des Lys (Castle of Lillies), a 19th century hunting lodge in the beautiful Baie de Somme area, only 1 hour (100km) from Calais. It’s now owned by Margreeth & Tim Alexander and has featured heavily in the Channel 4 series, Escape to the Château DIY (airing on Channel 4 this April) and while you’re there they want you to make yourself at home.

The Château is surrounded by 14 acres of park and woodland with a duckpond, sheep field, a fire circle, a swimming pool and many other amenities, including free WiFi. It’s an ideal place to get away, relax and explore the unspoilt Somme estuary with its lovely seaside towns, unspoilt nature & stunning historical sites. This is a part of France you’ll want to visit again and again.

Day 1 – You will be picked up at your various locations and we will commence our journey to the Château des Lys. First stop in France will be Montreuil sur Mer the jewel in the northern french crown with its fabulously intact medieval centre and breath-taking ramparts, it was also the setting for Hugo’s Les Misérables. You will be able to pick yourself up some lunch or have a coffee and do a spot of sightseeing. From there it’s a short hop to the Château. Tim and Margreeth will be there to welcome you and show you to your rooms and after you’ve settled in you’ll be treated to an evening of wine & cheese tasting and a French-style buffet meal. There’ll be an honesty box for any other drinks you want during your stay.

Day 2 – After breakfast, your hosts will give you a tour of the Château. Then we shall make our way by coach to the award winning Le Tearoom for your very own jam making workshop and lunch. They supply jam to many top London and Paris restaurants. Don’t forget to see the art gallery… and don’t forget your jam! We then take the scenic route to Amiens where you’ll have a chance to potter about before the evening dinner at Le Rétroviseur. (This meal is not included in the price.) We finish the day watching the genuinely spectacular “Son et Lumière” light show on the Amiens Cathedral façade, then it’s back to the Château.

Day 3 -After breakfast, Tim will join you on the coach to show you some local highlights- including the highest cliffs in France. This finishes at the lovely St-Valery-sur-Somme on the mouth of the Somme estuary and departure point in 1066 for William the Conqueror and prison for Joan of Arc. There’s a good selection of lovely restaurants for lunch, look out for the seals. After sightseeing, we head back for a true French style dinner prepared by your hosts with a final soirée of music and singing. (predinner drink included – extra wine honesty box)

Day 4 – After breakfast, we will embark on our journey home to your various drop off locations. We will stop on the route home at a supermarket in Boulogne-sur-Mer to give you a chance to stretch your legs, stock up on French goodies and grab yourselves something to eat.
